From Bulk URLs to Better Search: Productivity Upgrades in Storytell
February 21, 2025

In our latest engineering demo, Feb 21st, the Storytell engineering team unveiled key improvements focused on boosting productivity, refining search capabilities, and simplifying collaboration. Here's a breakdown of what's new:
Multiple URLs at once: boosting productivity

Andi, our senior frontend engineer, introduced the ability to add multiple URLs simultaneously when setting up a website scraping task. Previously, entering each URL individually was time-consuming. Now, you can paste a list of URLs separated by new lines, spaces, commas, or semicolons:
- The system automatically parses multiple URLs into individual inputs.
- The interface dynamically adds extra fields as needed.
- You can upload up to 10 URLs at once, with additional links handled gracefully.
This feature streamlines the scraping process, allowing you to gather insights more efficiently. For instance, Jamie recently processed over 150 links with ease using this update.
Powerful search for collections and assets

Navigating extensive repositories is now more intuitive. Our revamped search functionality includes:
- A prominent search bar, accessible via the keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl + /.
- The ability to search across all collections and individual assets seamlessly.
- An interactive experience where selecting an asset navigates directly to its location and highlights it in the assets table.
These enhancements enable you to locate specific documents or assets quickly, even within complex, nested collections.
Unified view: Assets from sub-collections in the parent dashboard

To provide a comprehensive overview of your projects, Andi updated the dashboard to display assets from all sub-collections alongside those in the parent collection. This consolidated view allows you to:
- View and sort assets from sub-collections without leaving the parent dashboard.
- Experience faster data retrieval, reducing wait times.
- Easily track misplaced assets, reinforcing data integrity.
This holistic approach simplifies collaboration and information management.
Organizational sharing made simple with domain-based access

Sharing collections across your organization is now more straightforward with domain-based sharing:
- If your email belongs to an official domain (e.g., your company or university email), you can share a collection with all users under that domain.
- Future sign-ups with the same domain are automatically granted access.
- You can revoke access quickly if needed.
This feature promotes seamless collaboration within teams, making it easier to create and share impactful collections.
A redesigned homepage for a better Storytell experience
We're rolling out a redesigned homepage to improve navigation and discoverability. The new layout makes it easier to explore Storytell’s capabilities with:
- A more intuitive structure that highlights key use cases.
- Dedicated cards that link directly to workflows and features.
- A structured content approach that guides users to relevant tools and resources.
This update ensures that both new and returning users can quickly find what they need and get started with minimal friction.
