Engineering Updates: Automatic prompt suggestions

In this week's engineering demo, our engineering team shared updates on automatic prompt improvements. This update focuses on making Storytell more intuitive and powerful for your daily use.

Automatic prompt improvements

Andi, our senior frontend engineer, introduced a feature that automatically suggests improvements to your prompts. When you begin typing a prompt on SmartChats™ and pause briefly, Storytell will analyze what you've written and offer a suggestion that might help you get better results.

The suggested improvements take into account:

  • The context you're working in (including the Collections you're using)
  • Best practices for prompt writing
  • Patterns that typically yield better results

You'll maintain full control over whether to use these suggestions, with a simple interface that lets you apply the improved prompt or continue with your original text. This feature aims to reduce friction in getting great results while respecting your autonomy.

While the UI is still a work in progress, our goal with automatic prompt improvements is to help both new and experienced users craft more effective prompts without disrupting their workflow.

Moving forward together

As always, we welcome your feedback on these changes. Your insights help us refine existing features and identify opportunities for future improvements. Together, we're building a platform that gives you more powerful ways to work with information and AI.
