Concept Graph: A new way to make sense of your data
As humans, we don't typically think like computers where we see files. Instead, we think of concepts. We can have all sorts of files that span across multiple different file types like PDFs, spreadsheets, PowerPoints, etc. but parts of those files can all be related to one another forming a singular concept.
This week, we launched our new concept graph visualization, a new way to visualize and explore the knowledge within your uploaded files.
Here's what it does: Instead of digging through dozens of files trying to understand how your information connects, the concept graph automatically extracts all the key concepts from your uploads and shows you how they relate to each other visually.
How the concept graph works
When you upload documents to Storytell, Storytell automatically identifies and extracts key concepts from across all your files. The concept graph then displays these concepts as an interactive network visualization, where the distance between points represents how closely related the concepts are in meaning.
This visual representation solves a fundamental challenge: understanding relationships between information scattered across multiple files of different types. Whether you have PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations, or other document formats, the concept graph creates a unified view of all the concepts within your data.
Here's how it works in practice:
Visual exploration that makes sense - You can rotate, zoom, and move around the graph just like you'd expect. If it gets cluttered, no problem - adjust the nodes or switch to the table view.
Click any concept to dive deeper - This is where it gets really cool. Every concept shows you its summary PLUS a timeline of "seeds" (the actual content pieces from your files that created that concept). You can trace exactly which documents contributed what and jump straight into the source material.
Seamless integration everywhere - The graph talks to the table view, you can start conversations about specific concepts, and everything updates in real-time.
What possibilities does this unlock? Instead of searching through file names that don't tell you much, you're exploring actual concepts and their relationships!

Coming next: Smart filtering
Right now you see all concepts from your files, but we're actively working on filtering that prioritizes concepts based on how much supporting content they have - basically highlighting what appears most across your documents.
