UI Updates: Enhancements to the Assets Table

On this week’s engineering demo, we saw updates to the Collections assets table that focus on improving functionality, usability, and design. Graeme, our Sr. Frontend Developer, has been working on these refinements to help make interactions smoother and more intuitive. Here's what’s new:

Pagination for the assets table

Managing large collections is now more efficient with the new pagination feature, which lets you browse assets in smaller sections, displaying three items per page. This improvement addresses a long-standing limitation and simplifies navigating larger datasets.

A more readable table layout

The assets table has been updated to improve clarity and usability. Adjustments to spacing and refreshed icon designs make it easier to work with your data while creating a cleaner overall look.

The table’s display order has also been reorganized. The source or original file name now appears first, highlighting the most relevant information to help you find what you need quickly.

File handling made smarter

Interacting with files now feels more natural. The system determines the best action based on the file type—PDFs open directly in your browser, while CSVs are downloaded. This update reduces friction and ensures consistent behavior across file types.

Clearer Visual Hierarchy

The UI now emphasizes primary actions while distinguishing secondary ones with a new purple accent color. These adjustments reduce confusion and guide you toward what’s most important, all while creating a more cohesive design.

To align with the updated visual hierarchy, primary colors have been removed from the user menu. This ensures the primary actions stand out where they matter most.
