How we’re building Concepts to surface dynamic knowledge

In our most recent product demo and feedback session, March 21st, we shared a sneak peek of Concepts—a worldview of all your knowledge.
Organizing your knowledge with Concepts
We showed how Concepts will help you organize and understand important topics by gathering everything Storytell knows about them from your uploads in one place.

- A Concept acts like a dynamic entity. As new information comes in, the Concept updates automatically.
- For example, a Concept for “Microsoft Cloud” will connect to related topics like Azure or LinkedIn and show how they’re linked.
- You’ll be able to click into a Concept to see all related data and chat with it to get summaries or answers.
This feature is in development and will help you follow evolving topics without having to track updates manually.
Setting alerts for Concept changes
We previewed how you’ll be able to create alerts tied to Concepts.

- Alerts will notify you when something about a Concept changes—based on the data flowing into your Storytell account.
- You can set alerts using plain language, like “Notify me if this Concept changes.”
- This feature is designed to help you stay updated on what matters to you without needing to constantly check for changes.
Concepts vs Labels: What’s the difference?
We clarified how Concepts differ from Labels in Storytell.
- Labels are static—once applied to something, they don’t change.
- Concepts are dynamic—they update automatically as new information becomes available.
This distinction will help you focus on what’s changing in your data and use Concepts for ongoing insights while still using labels to organize static information.
Asking SmartChat about a Concept
We demonstrated how SmartChat™ will be able to answer questions based on Concept knowledge.
- You can ask questions like, “What’s the latest on Microsoft Cloud?" and SmartChat will use Concept data to respond.
- SmartChat™ will reference the specific sources it used to answer, so you can trace information back to its origin.
